Introduction:
Everest region popularly
known as the roof of the world, and the highest peak on this planet earth,
where interested and keen travelers can join in for picturesque trekking or
other varied adventures from mountaineering, trekking peak climb to cultural
and scenic walks around lovely Sherpa traditional villages interwoven with
Buddhism religion and fascinating culture of Tibetan origin.
Everest is known in
Nepalese as 'Sagarmatha' and Sherpa calls 'Chomolungma' in both languages means
'Great Mother' standing high at 8,848 m and 29, 028 ft as world highest peaks,
also named by National Geographic as the 'Third Pole'
Beside giant mountains a
picturesque country located within Solu and Khumbu district of Eastern Nepal
where you can soak in its pristine scenery of rolling green hills and scenic
valley in the backdrop of Mt. Everest and rich and immense Buddhist culture
with interesting old monasteries treasured with ancient monuments and
artifacts.
Everest
region if protected by Sagarmatha National Park with covering a wide area 1,146
sq. kms mostly around high Khumbu region from Lukla onwards and the area within
the park includes world's highest mountains Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt.
Nuptse, Mt. Cho Oyo, Mt. Pumori, Mt. Amadablam, Thermasarkhu, Kwangde,
Khangtiaga and Gyachung Kang.
Sagarmatha
National Park was added to the list of World Heritage Sites in 1979 with its
lovely alpine woodland filled with tall trees to bush
rhododendron-magnolia-pines-birch and silver trees, as the trail leads higher
above 4,000 m where green vegetation and tree lines cease for dwarf and alpine
shrubs and bushes with barren and arid landscapes surrounded by massive range
of peaks.
Walk leads
you to moraine and remorseless fields of ice and glaciers with constant views
of Mt. Everest and adjoining peaks with notorious Khumbu Ice Falls that feeds
the Khumbu glaciers and raging Dudh Kosi Rivers with several tributaries
Imjatse and Bote Kosi River flowing from all direction eventually joining into
Dudh Kosi River.
On the walk
within the park and high Khumbu valley around Everest, wild-life can be spotted
are the Himalayan Thar, Ghoral, Serow and Musk Deer, t he elusive and rare snow
leopard, weasel, marten, Himalayan mouse hare (pika) with other exotic bird
life the Tibetan Snow Cock / Hen, Pheasants and the colorful Danphe /
Danfe (Impeyan Pheasants) national bird
of Nepal.
The park is
populated by approximately 3,000 of the famed Sherpa people whose lives are
interwoven with Buddhism religion of strong Tibetan influence and origin.
The main
settlements are Namche Bazaar, Khumjung, Khunde, Thame, Thyangboche, Pangboche
and Phortse. The economy of the Khumbu Sherpa community has traditionally been
heavily based on trade and livestock herding.
And then
arrival of international mountaineering expeditions since 1950 and the influx
of foreign trekkers, the Sherpa economy today becoming increasingly dependent
on tourism, where you can find nice and cozy lodges to high standard Resorts
facing the view of Mt. Everest.

Season:
Everest
Region can be traveled whole year however March to June and September to
December are the best months with clear sky and views of peaks, March to May
when wild flowers are in full bloom.
The
temperature can be cold in the morning and night time as per the altitude
ranging from 2,500 m to above 5,000 meters high, most of the day a sunny with
16-20 degree Celsius but in the shade temperatures drops to 05 degree C.
Winter
months from November to mid February can be colder in the morn and night time
dropping to - 10 to -12 degree C with pleasant day of 15 to 20 Celsius.
Popular and
short way is taking a short flight of 30 minutes from Kathmandu to Lukla.
Other routes, taking an old original and classic way taking an overland drive from Kathmandu to Jiri which is about 5-6 hours driving distance.

taking the other side of Everest from Arun valley with a flight to Tumlingtar
from Kathmandu and then walking through lowland to reach higher Khumbu valley
